Staying Grounded
Getting your mellow harshed at work? The King of Cups and Tower inspire a poem and a reading.

King Of Cups
Emotionally balanced, compassionate, diplomatic.
The Tower
Sudden change, upheaval, chaos, revelation, awakening
How to stay balanced, your platform afloat?
With it sturdy in turbulent water?
Keep your compassion intact and please don’t
Let diplomacy fall down or totter.Seems that you’re caught in some chaos at work?
Can you tell me what’s up with the tower?
Mind all the change; the upheaval that lurks…
When you’re dragged in, you give up your power.
I always like to highlight a similarity between the two cards that Poimandres (The Creekmason Discord Tarot bot) unveils for a tarot reading.
In your case, there’s two things I want to draw attention to:
The robes worn by both the King and the people falling from the Tower are the same color. Blue, representing water and therefore emotion. In both cases, the characters are wearing their emotions on their sleeves, which is totally fine, however it can get you into trouble if…
Your plinth grows too high. The Tower card, as far as I know, is a reference to Babel, a project humans undertook that involved building a tower high enough to get into heaven. God wasn’t happy about us trying to trick our way in, and like Icarus, we were punished for our hubris. This is in contrast to the king, who is perched, quite literally, at sea level. Both structures are the same color, but they’re drastically different heights.
So beware hubris I suppose. You can have your feelings and still stay grounded, even amongst stormy waves, provided you don’t over extend yourself and become vulnerable to chaos.
Does that resonate? Have I wandered down the wrong path?
If you liked this, you can always buy a cup of coffee as a form of Dāna.

I’m trying to keep this poetry project going for as long as I can. That means I need a little help coming up with questions for readings. If you’d like a poem of your own, please don’t hesitate to…
And why not sign up for a cute lil poem a day?
