How can I step into my Power and manifest my Work?
-jt

The Hermit
Soul-searching, introspection, being alone, inner guidance
The Chariot
Control, willpower, success, action, determination
Paused on the mountaintop, peaks in the distance,
Driven to introspect into your limits,
Searching your soul, all alone with your lantern,
Producing the light for your mountain pass cantor.A sense of control, of success and right action:
Perhaps, at a glance, is a tough nut to crack, yet
The willpower needed to charge into battle
Is already yours if you take up the mantle.
The directions that the characters in these cards are facing—thanks to a fellow Creekmason’s Tarot tutelage podcast, Magical Rehabilitation—tends to always be the first thing I notice.
The Hermit is facing to the left, signifying that he is regarding the past. His six-pointed star, representing the alliance between Heaven and Earth that exists in every human, is lighting his assessment of his past. That little light o’ his (which he is gonna let shine) is the inner guidance that, when applied to the past, is what informs the Work that this query refers to.
The Chariot, on the other hand, is directly facing the “viewer.” He has crossed a river in the background, perhaps signifying the Rubicon of legend after which Alexander the Great’s armies could no longer withdraw from destiny. He’s committed to leave behind the fortifications of his inner world (the background of the card), and is resolutely facing the present.
He’s committed to face his destiny, no matter how much riskier that might be.
The Chariot is a good card to come up in a reading about Power. This is the card that represents will and self-sovereignty. Harnessing the power and wisdom of both the light and dark sphinxes that pull him deeper into the present, the charioteer exerts his freedom in the only place it really can be exerted: in the space between impulse and action that you can only find in the Here and Now.
There it is! Hope it resonated!

I’m trying to keep this poetry project going for as long as I can. That means I need a little help coming up with questions for readings. If you’d like a poem of your own, please don’t hesitate to…
And why not sign up for a cute lil poem a day?
