A Sense of an Ending
2024 vibes? The King of Swords and The World inspire a poem and a reading.

King Of Swords
Mental clarity, intellectual power, authority, truth
The World
Completion, integration, accomplishment, travel
The sense of an ending emerges ahead:
Crowned as a King? Maybe sky-clad instead?
The wisps of grey clouds, floating puffed with potential,
Air is the element thoughtful and mental.Firm with authority, scowling and sturdy,
Yet fluid and flexible, graceful and worthy.
Cultivate clarity; dig up the truth;
Integrate everything; be the best you!
It’s the percentage of the cards dominated by sky, for me.
The King’s robes practically make him look like a hole in his throne through which the sky shines. As I understand it, the term “sky-clad” is common in Wicca, referring to the nude communion with nature sometimes practiced during rituals… so in a way, both characters are dressed in the color of the sky.
You may already know this, but as I said in the poem, air is the mental element.
Thoughts are light things. Intangible. Invisible.
As pervasive and ever-present—as backgrounded and unexamined—as the molecules of sky between you and the screen you’re reading this on.
The other similarity is that both cards come at the end of one of the Tarot’s cycles, the King being the last card in each suit and the World being the last of the major arcana. I’d advise against interpreting this as a final completion, as embedded within every cycle’s end, there are the seeds of the next beginning, but still.
What brainy accomplishments are you anticipating in 2024?
If you liked this, you can always buy a cup of coffee as a form of Dāna.
